There are several techniques for processing felt, including pressing under steam and matting under water. The most common method, however, is needle felting. In this technique, dry wool processing is applied using a sponge as a base and a special needle to shape the wool into the desired form. In the wet felting method, the felt is processed using water and homemade soap dissolved in it.

How to Make Felt Flowers?

Materials Needed

• Felt sheets (in colors of your choice)
• Scissors
• Sewing machine or acrylic glue

 

Instructions

1. Choose a color or color scheme and determine the flower size you want. Cut a rectangle from the felt sheet in the chosen size;
2. Fold the rectangle in half and use a sewing machine to sew it or glue the two touching edges. Then, with scissors, cut the folded part of the rectangle at regular intervals;
3. Roll it into a spiral and sew or glue it again to secure the decoration;
4. If you alternate felt in different colors while rolling, you will end up with a beautiful flower with stamens, which you can finish off with a wooden figure, bead, stone, or button;
5. Optionally, you can add leaves to the flower. Finally, the finished decoration can be added as an accent to a gift, a decoration on a scrapbook album, or placed on a headband or hair clip!
